This is the plastic housing.
I feel there is a weak spot in the design of the tool for the locking pin which locks the gear mechanism is located in a thin plastic housing that can not take the strain when untightening the disc retaining nut. It results in a cracked housing.
Apparently, to acquire this part is a problem for it is skipped over in parts list. How come?
Have you noticed this problem arrising with this tool?
Other than this canundrum, I've found this tool just what I needed at the time. It can make what otherwise would be a bear of a job into a pussy cat.
Where can I proceed from here?

Hi Al,
Are you referring to Type 1 or Type 2? It appears that on both, the plastic casing is no longer available for either one from DeWALT. We checked a few other places too - and did not have any luck. You may want to check some used outlets and place your post in a more prominent place on this forum, such as:

Good Luck!
