The DeWALT DW735 has been extremely popular. I've seen nothing but good reviews on it from both DIYers and professionals. There are other solid planers from various manufacturers, but it's hard to find such a solid consensus on any power tool. The price is a bit higher than some of its peers, but by all accounts, it's worth it.
People have reported problems with sniping, but it can be eliminated by supporting each board on its way out.
I unfortunately haven't used one myself, but it comes highly recommended from just about everybody.
