Default buying new 12v nicd charger

suggestion was made to test old batteries before putting into new charger. How do you test the old batteries. jbroc

Hi jbroc. You can use a voltmeter to test your old batteries. Even when discharged, they should read just a little above the battery's rating. For instance, if you have an 12V battery it should read about 13V on the voltmeter or so. If it reads properly, you probably have a good battery.
