Default An unidentified Skil brand saw.

I came across a Skil model 504, 5.5 Amp. circular trim saw. It's marked contractor grade, all aluminum case, in excellent condition, with what I believe to be the original blade, made also by Skil. Very powerful, complete except for one brush cap. I'm having trouble finding the proper size blade for it. Can anybody give me any background on this nice little saw ?

Thanks

For many years Skil made some very high quality circular saws which used 3-digit model numbers like that 504. They were all metal and very reliable. There are still quite a few of them around because they just don't fail very often. Unfortunately these saws are older now and there are no parts available from the manufacturer. There's no easy way to find a brush cap for it, for instance. As for the blade size, I don't remember any of those saws taking non-standard blades. I'm not sure which blade that 504 takes specifically, but it's probably a standard 7-1/4 inch.

I believe the 504 was a 4 1/4" trim saw with a 1/2" arbor.
