Porter Cable RN 175A will not feed nails. Sometimes it shoots, other times it misfires. Any sugg? Thx:

    Hi nappyhead,

I would first look at the feed piston assembly. It is made up of item numbers 406, 410-415 of the parts diagram. Check these parts for wear or damage. Also take a look at the areas that the nails contact on their way to the driver. Look for any damage that the nails may be hanging up on.

Here is a link to the parts diagram...

All of the needed repair parts are available from ereplacementparts.com.

I hope this will help you to diagnose your RN175A roofing nailer!

    Default Check Pawl arm spring

Check the Pawl arm spring see item # 408 in the Porter Cable RN175A parts diagram
-if this is broken then the pawl may not swing in and engage the nail coil until part way thru it's drive cycle.
