If you have a broken, or cracked clamping handle on your DW708 miter saw, which is a common malady due to the design and over-tightening, here's how ya remove and replace.
First, set your saw on it's side so you can put a pipe clamp, or large c-clamp on the pin that the handle and trigger rides on. Next, use a bolt or other post to extend the pressure of your clamp directly onto the pin, and offset the other side to allow the pin to extend past the housing. Slowly and carefully apply pressure on the pin. If it does not move, apply pressure from the other side. THIS PIN ONLY COMES OUT IN ONE DIRECTION AND IF YOU GO TOO FAR YOU WILL CRACK THE HOUSING, so be careful.
Once you have removed the pin, you can remove the shaft from its' hole and replace the broken part. You should probably replace both parts so that you don't have to take it apart again for a while. Once you have transferred the spring and replaced the assembly, just reverse the clamping procedure to reinsert the pin. Retension the handle, and you're done!
