I found a 3-wheel Delta band saw for sale and I wonder if anyone knows why they are no longer sold in the market place? Was there safety issues or limitations that caused manufacturers to no longer make them for sale? I had seen a posting where someone asked how to keep the band (blade) from slipping off the wheel(s) every time they started it. Was this a problem with them as a whole?

    Hi alanko,

Tracking issues are the main reason you don't see many of these saws anymore. The third wheel adds one more point that must be in perfect alignment with the other two wheels. It can be hard enough sometimes to keep a two wheeled saw tracking perfectly. Add one more wheel and it can be almost impossible if any of the wheels is even slightly off. The third wheel allows for a very deep throat on the saw but unfortunately the tracking issues usually overshadow any benefit gained.
