Default Cancelling a switch in a corded drill

Hello guys, first time here and I like it. I have an older Black and Decker model "7190-04 type 6" drill that I would like to use for a project. I only need the motor to move a clothes line system and having seperate toggle switch and dimmer (for speed) remotely from the motor itself. Once taken apart the motor has 2 black wire and 1 white. The 2 black are coming from the brush, one on each side. The white one looks like it's connected inside the drill possibly on the armature itself. There is a 4th wire (black) just running around and it looks like this one is just connected from one side to the other of the armature?? I would like to know if the black wires are for polarity (so it switches direction) and the white a ground? So if that would be right the motor should turn in one direction when plugged in and if i switch to the other black wire the motor should reverse and spin on the other side? The switch itself had 6 wires going in but wasn't working anymore. (smelly) I tried to get wiring diagram to understand how it works but couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks if somebody can help me.
