    Default B&D G-8501 Garden Shredder

I have subject shredder and need to get a replacement drive belt for it. It shows up on schematic as part #40 but does not show it being available. Anyone having any idea on where to order such part. I live in Grants Pass Oregon near Medford. Thanks!

Default I have the same model in Portland

Mine has a broken pully (party #30 in the diagram). If you still have the old shredder and you ended up buying a new one would you be willing to sell me that part? Otherwise I could sell you the belt from mine for a minimal cost + shipping.

    Normhellis,
I also have an 8501 that needs a new belt. I've looked everywhere, with no success. Did you have any luck finding a source? If so, please let me know what you found.
    Thanks,

    Default RE Belt for G-8501

RE Does anyone know where to find a belt for the B&D G-8501.. I have searched with no luck even tried to make something up but didn't last long..Thanks Mike

Mike, after much research, I found that while the G-8501 and its belt are no longer made, the European GA100 is essentially the same model, and I bought a replacement belt on eBay from a UK seller--cost about $20.

However, the GA100 uses a toothed belt and spindle instead of a ribbed design like the G-8501. My workaround was to fill the ribs on the spindle with J-B Weld, a cold-weld, metal epoxy that dries steel-hard. That way, the spindle's ribs can't cut into the toothed belt. That fix worked fine for me.

I checked. One is currently available on eBay at black & decker parts ga100 shredder belt 324983 - eBay (item 370296786232 end time Dec-20-10 11:30:20 PST)

    Hope this info helps.

My 8501 shredder started smoking. Does anyone have a motor they want to sell?

Try V-Belt Global Supply Company. They hve a poly v-belt that works just fine. I think its J series part 220J6. Does anyone know where to find replacement blades?
