Ridgid R2600 5" Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander

When I turn on my R2600 it winds out to full RPM and doesn't seem orbit at all. When I put it down against wood it bogs down and I get circular swirls and dust flies everywhere... may as well put a grinder disk on!

Anyone have ideas on the part(s) I need to fix this?

Hi Twysted,

It sounds like the brake on your Ridgid R.O. sander has gone bad. The part you will need to replace is called the Brake Skirt. It is item #39 on the parts diagram.

The Brake Skirt is part #590936001

The Brake skirt is available from ereplacementparts.com.
