Default Need switch replacement for Delta 34-350

    Hello all,
My first visit and I have a question maybe someone can help me with.

I have a DELTA 34-350 tablesaw that has a broken original switch. It is a 3 phase setup and all original. Can I update this with a suitable new switch or can I replace with and original part? I have not been able to get a parts manual so I don't even know the original part number.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks guys
    Jim

    Hi a233856,

You won't have much luck with an original factory switch for your saw. It will have been long discontinued. Remove the existing switch and take it with you to your local electrical supply house. They will be able to find you a suitable replacement. There is a chance they might even have something that will fit the original enclosure box if you are interested in keeping the saw looking original.

    I hope this helps!

Hey guys. Actually there is a switch kit assembly that will replace the existing setup you have. Delta part # 438-01-317-0154 , lists for about $195.00 +. This "switch kit assembly" (which is not just a switch but a complete starter unit) will handle the old Delta motors used on your saw that draw between 10-15 amps.

The #438-01-317-0154 switch is a starter for a 3hp, 1ph motor. In this case we need a starter for a 3 phase motor. This starter will likely have a low voltage switch with a seperate transformer and will need 3-phase heaters.

Mark. Sorry for the typo. I switched phase and hp. on my notes. How about this one? Delta overload kit # 422-04-626-0007. ?

I think that one is single phase as well. Looking at Delta's breakdown #CS-4K, the 422-04-626-0007 switch is listed with the following description next to it; Switch/Overload kit. (1ph, P.B. switch only).

I did some serious digging and found one. There are two items needed, the starter and the switch. The starter is part #52-702. It is a 3ph starter with 24V low voltage controls. It will work with 200, 230, 400, or 460 Volt power. You must supply your own heaters depending on what voltage you are using. Your local electrical supplier will have the heaters. The switch is part #52-348. You must also supply all of the wiring from the source to the starter and then to the switch. This setup will only set you back about $825 plus the heaters and wiring...

    I hope this helps!

Yeah, your right, cross referencing old numbers lead me to believe it might have been for a 3 phase. . I searched all my old service manuals (34-350 @ breakdown #CS-5A ) for any info, plus DW Servicenet, etc., plus many other old 3 phase Delta model breakdowns.. Don't think there's anything better than the $1000.00 solution you found. After about an hour of trying to find a replacement (it was a learning experence) I also think I'm gonna go take 2 Advil's and forget I ever heard of a 3phase/ Mod.34-350.
    Peace, Terry.
