Carburetor Briggs and Stratton 5.5 hp engine

I Have a Poulan push mower with a 5.5 hp briggs and stratton engine and the carburetor is plugged up due to bad gas. I'm planning to replace the carburetor as I don't think I am skilled enough to take it apart and clean it. Can you tell me the type of carburetor to get and where I can find out how to take the old one off and put a new one on? Thanks

if you can replace the carb you can clean it clean gas tank good then use carb cleaner in a spray can if carb has a bottom float unscrew bottom nut and crack loose then spray area clean then remove it completly you will see a float and float needle remove this and spray cleaner up into hole then spray into gasline nipple and blow out the crud re assamble fill with gas 1/2 way and start if it runs good fill it up and mow the grass good luck...
