1987 Delta 16 inch band saw

This saw will not resaw anything! It has a 1/2 hp motor. It just bogs down and then stops. I want to know if I can put a bigger hp motor on to correct this?

Hey,
you can put a higher hp motor on..but first make sure the teeth on the blade is going the right direction..pulleys tight..belt.. so on and so forth..your motor might need some repair..better to see if you have a correctable problem before the expense of a new motor and then find out that didn't help..ugh!

Thanks for the info! I have checked all you mentioned, did not check the motor as it works fine on everything except resawing,but I will check it out now.
