Default Porter Cable pancake compressor head leaks

PC model CF2600 type 2 pancake compressor 135 PSI (bought in 2003) that leaks thru the head. There is a small pin hole in head in a deep recessed area where the center diaphram touches it and leaks air out there. Should pinhole be there in the casting of head? Is there some part to replace to fix such as the head gasket or valve plate assembly? Thanks.

The pin hole in the casting should be there. Not sure what its purpose is. Head gasket # 105. And valve plate #106 will fix the problem. Porter Cable CF2600 Parts List and Diagram - Type 2 : eReplacementparts.com

Default Checkvalve

I have the same problem with mine. It looks to me like the hole is a relief to keep the cylinder from being pressurized with the holding tank pressure. This would mean that is order for the hole to continually leak air, the check valve at the tank is sticking open and the tank pressure is bleeding back up the line to the cylinder head. I am going to replace mine to see if that helps.

Default Thanks Matt!!!

Had the same problem and when I read Matt's post I just slapped my head and said "of course!!!!". I verified the check valve by tapping it with a wrench and the leaked ceased.
I read in another forum where the check valve can be cleaned with laquer thinner. Haven't tried it yet, but went ahead and ordered a new check valve just to be sure the problem is resolved.
