    Question 5 stars Dewalt drill DC925 Chuck Broke?

    My chuck is broke on my dewalt DC925. It will hold a bit/driver when tightening but the second you try to back out or loosen a screw the chuck immediately loosens, causing the bit/driver to fall out of the chuck. I think it started when I used a 4" hole saw to drill through a rim joist. The teeth get gummed up so I reverse the drill to clean them. Long story short, I think the chuck might have came lose from the spindle when the hole saw jammed while drilling. Since this happened, the problem listed above has progressively gotten worse. I'm unfamiliar with this type of chuck so I'm not sure if it's broken or can be repaired.

    I agree with Dale. You'll probably have to replace the entire chuck. There isn't any way to repair the chuck itself. I would make sure that your spindle and threads look intact too, just in case. Hopefully you're able to loosen the chuck from the spindle in that condition, but here's a link showing how to remove the chuck just in case:
