Porter-Cable C2006 compressor
OK, a couple of problems here. My idiocy probably can’t be helped, but perhaps there’s hope outside of that. . .
At a swap-meet I purchased a Porter-Cable C2006 compressor. It’s the Pancake type and would be perfect for the few things I do around the house. There was no place to plug it in and test it but it looked practically brand new so I bought it. I get it home and plug it in and guess what. . . It builds all the air it’s supposed to and then some. It won’t shut off.
The tank says right on it that it is rated for 150psi. At 150psi the safety valve pops off. So I find my way to eReplacementparts.com only to discover there is more than one Type of model C2006 compressor. There are three listed with full schematics and all, but none are what I have here. The ones listed are Types 0, 2, and 3. I have a Type 4. They all look fairly similar so I tear mine apart to get the pressure regulator switch out. The three Types listed on the web page all have the same part number for that switch, which the schematics call a “Service Kit.” Mine is different. I can’t find any specs for the switch listed on eReplacement, but on mine it says the cut-in is 120psi and cut out is 150psi. With a tank that is rated for 150 and a pop-off that pops at 150, I’d like to replace that regulator switch with one that cuts out at, say, 135 or 140psi and maybe cuts in at 100 or 110psi.
Can I get such a switch through eReplacement?
Here are the part numbers involved:
The number on the switch from my machine is A05802/20175-2.
The part number for the “Service Kit” for the other three models is A10375.
Even paying less than half what a new one is listed for, I’m wondering if my swap-meet deal was so good after all.
Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.
