Dewalt cordless drill collar

when installing the adjusting collar on dewalt cordless drill Model DW995 type 6 what position do you set it at. I took this apart to change the clutch and can't position the collar right.What the heck am I doing wrong.

Thats a tuff one to explain. And it's been a while since I have done one. I Think you have to set # 40 first the set the collar in position 1. Keep trying you'll get it.

Dale, the collar is marked from #1 to # 23 and then it has a drill position.
