Question 5 stars Hitachi sliding compound miter saw

I am replacing a motor bearing. The old one fried and the inner race is still pressed on to the motor shaft. I tried a small puller to remove it, but it is very stubborn. A larger puller will not fit on this small shaft. I have the new bearing, but i am stuck at this point.
    A torch? Hammer?
    Any suggestions?

    Default replacing a bearing

    Hey tuck-point,
A bearing splitter is the best thing to use..[sometimes along with a hydraulic or arbor press!] UGH.. If you have a bench vise available you can attempt to clamp the inner race tightly and tap on the end of the armature shaft with a punch and hammer to remove it enough to get the puller jaws behind it..[have someone support the armature as you tap it as not to have it fall out or get damaged..].. Be careful..and if in doubt.. a friendly neighborhood repair shop can help you out..[hey.. that rhymes..]
    Hope this helps..?

hi another option that we use is to grind two flats on the stuck bearing sleeve ,this then allows you to put in a vice and ,usualy if you then turn the armaure the sleeve splits and slids off !!

    Default thanks to you

I'll try the grinding technique tonight, and see if I can spin it off.
If that doesn't work. I'll grind it down untill I can split it.
Hey the saw was free, If a 10.00 bearing is all it needs, I cannot compain too much!!
    Thanks everyone.
