Bosch 1194AVSR 1/2in Hammer Drill
I have owned this drill for a long time and my only complaint has been that even in Low Speed 1 it is much too fast for large bits. It burns them up. I was told that the VSR means the drill speed is adjustable by the on off switch. It has never been. It is either on or off.
Can any one guide me in the proper direction to the problem. Is it most likely the on/off switch or in a module that contains resistors shown on the parts breakdown.
It is be best big drill I have ever owned and if it can be made to operate at a slower speed so it doesn't break wrists and burn up cobalt bits it would be ever better.

variable speed
Hey JA,
You will just have to replace the switch..the variable is inside the switch..part# 2-607-200-203..avail at ereplacementparts.com....however, prolonged use of the variable speed does cause a heavier amp draw under load on the tool and you may have the variable part burn out again..
.. I'm just saying..
hope this is helpful..

Thanks for the help. I will order the switch. I used it a lot putting anchors in a concrete slab when it was new using it as a hammer drill. I guess I just didn't notice it was variable then and burned out the switch. It just gets light duty now, most of the time, unless I have to drill a 3/4 inch hole in half inch steel. It sure has a lot of power and has been a very good drill.
