    Default DW708 bearing

I bought a used saw with a bad bearing. I have the new bearing but can not get the old one off. All that is left on the shaft is the inner portion of the bearing and there is little or no room to get behind it. Anybody know how to remove it?

    Default bearing splitter

    Hey robi821,
The best thing to use is a bearing splitter..it will clamp down on the inner race and then can be pressed off in an hydraulic press.. if no press.. you can try cutting off the race with a cutting wheel on a grinder..[without damaging the fan] some people have been able to grind it enough to chisel off the rest...ugh It is also a good idea to clean and polish the shaft before you install the new bearing to make sure it has a clean press on..
I just changed one out and used the splitter and the hyd press..
here is a link to tho bearing splitter as part of a tools for tool repair video..Tools for Tool Repair : eReplacementparts.com
    hope this is helpful..?
