    Default Dewalt DC989 to DC925

Hey, I'm having problems with the chuck on my DC989 and although it spins, it won't close. I figured I would just replace the keyless chuck on the DC989 with a new one. My question is can I put the keyless chuck style from the DC925 type on my DC 989? I already own a DC925 and the chuck never wears down or has any problems like my DC989 does. I've had the chuck replaced by the dewalt store twice (my tools receive constant work every day) and it always is in need of coming back because something like the chuck won't close or the keys themselves are worn out. I love my problemless DC925 and would love to change the DC989 to have the same keyless chuck. Thanks for any help you can give.

Default chuck size is the same 1/2 thread

    Hey V,
the chuck size for both models are the same, however the removal I'd presume takes the same steps to apply /remove.

additionally you may have to apply some real man-power to remove the problem one (suggestion:use a pipe wrench or you may have to destroy the complete chuck by hammering away at it)
    good luck

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be easy getting the old one off. Thanks for the advice though!

Default Couldn't even get it off with an impact gun.

Funny thing though, it freed the chuck up. Now it works again.
