DeWalt Compressor filling and purging cycle
I have a DeWalt D55141 air compressor that fills the tank to 175psi and then the 175 psi relief valve opens and then purges the tank pressure. The tank never reaches over 175 psi and the motor never shuts off when it reaches 175 psi. It just pumps to 175psi and then purges the tank and then starts the cycle all over again. Other than that, the compressor does well. Does anyone know what is going on here or what part I may have to replace? I tried replacing the relief valve thinking it may have been weak but same problem still exists. Please help.

purges
Hey Mr Manning,
According to your model # it should shut off at 150 psi..[the relief valve is just doing its job]..it sounds like the pressure switch has failed..part # A05802..located internally..check out the parts breakdown to locate and decide if you want to replace yourself or take into a shop..

Try adjusting the pressure switch down. Instructions might be on the inside of the pressure switch.
Make sure you make small adjustments and then test.
Best and safest option is to just replace it.
