    Default gears?

    Hey gary-c
I am not sure if I understand your gear problem or the transformer..do you have the Dewalt saw connected to a special application of some sort..what you are describing doesn't match up to a condition a DW718 might have..
do you have any more info?
    Thanks!

    Default dewalt dw718 mitre saw

    hi cmoorejack

the transformer is a 110 single socket and works fine with other tools. the saw is quite a new saw so i doubt if it is down to wear and tare. the saw seems to struggle for power in the lower settings before going off but is tripping the transformer box when it does go off. i have checked for obvious loose connections etc but nothing sticks out

    thanks gary-c

    Default transformer box

    Hey gary-c,
The saw does draw a lot of amperage upon start up [about 25 amps and then a steady draw of around 10 to 15..give or take] this may have an negative effect on the transformer..also most house or shop outlets have 115 to 120 volts on average [if the saw has inadequate voltage supply over time the windings may have been damaged ] you may want to try and operate the saw out of a regular outlet to see if it still has issues..also check to see if anything else is running on the transformer box that may cause an overload..
Are the lower settings on the box for different speeds..? This will be problematic for a higher amperage tool..
    hope this is helpful..?
