Makita jr3000v will not power on

My dad gave me the saw and I was told it would not power on. He said the brushes had been replaced but nothing else had been worked on. The cord tested positive to power at the switch. Would anyone know what the problem could be. Thanks.

Hey pbchaps,
You will need to troubleshoot the other end of the tool now.. check for continuity from the wires coming from the brush's and or field..if everything checks ok and the cord shows voltage to the switch [live] then you have isolated that it is the switch..there have been many changes to the saw over the last several years.so matching up the correct parts may be difficult..[be sure and read the disclaimer or the parts list..]
