Delta Scroll saw
My brother read my thread and said I should be more specific. So here it is....
My Delta SS350LS 16" scroll saw always blows the 3A fuse within the electronic housing whenever the machine is turned on. Some tool repair experts say it can be a bad start capacitor. Others say it may be a bad circuit board. I noticed a white residue on the board when I took the board out. Or they say it may be a bad motor, causing a short circuit, causing the fuse to blow.
Any insight from a tool repair/electronics expert would be most welcome. I'm hoping it's the capacitor, as this part is the least expensive. The circuit board is not returnable being an electronic part, and a motor replacement would be about $200-$250. I paid $400 for the saw itself. PLease, any help would be appreciated.

Hi MLeong,
Electrical problems can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. I would be very suspicious of the circuit board if you are seeing white residue on it. Especially if the residue looks like it may have come from smoke. Any of the electronic components could be causing the fuse to blow. You should be able to check the switch and the the variable speed dial with a multimeter. You would likely need to take the motor into a motor shop to have it tested. I hope this helps at all. I know how frustrating trouble shooting electronics can be. Like I said I would lean toward the circuit board, part #899174.
Good luck!
