Repair Cordless
I have a 6001D 12 volt Makita cordless drill. All at once it does not run , tried several batteries. the drill has worked great and has modest amount of use. what is the problem? Is the switch bad? I need to know more before ordering a switch as they are about $60.00 Is there a site about how to get the chuck off in order to take the drill apart. Is ther a test to determine the problem.. I like the drill as it is light in weight. JNO

Hi JNO,
If your batteries are good then the problem will be either the switch or the motor. To test the motor you could disconnect the motor leads from the switch and using some jumpers wire directly from the battery to the motor. If the motor runs fine then it is definitely the switch. The switch ,part #651349-7, is available from ereplacementparts.com
Good luck with your repair!

I too, had that problem,my simple solution, after being flustered, clean the contacts inside the drill where the battery connects
