Most likely the problem is the transmission. It is figure number 16 on the breakdown.
Here is a link to it: Dewalt 388974-00 Transmission You may also want to double check two other things: Check the SHIFTER WIRE, which is figure number 41 on the breakdown. Make sure that it is not bent. Also, check figure number 4 (SHIFTER BUTTON) and make sure that it is not broken. If the two small parts look OK, and it is the transmission usually the best option is to replace the whole thing. They are tough to take apart, and even tougher to get back together. It's a bit pricey (around $55) but it does beat buying a new drill. |
