    Unhappy Repair Milwaukee Drill

I have a 18 v Milwaukee power plus. Not sure where to find a model number.
It was having trouble with the chuck shaft slipping or dropping forward. It worked but had to be spun and pushed backwards until it settled backin the correct spot.'
Recently the whole shaft fell out. I took it apart and tried to reassemble but it still had a shaft slipage problem plus I couldn't get the gear settings to rturn to normal function.

    Hi hclower,

I would suspect that the problem is being caused by a snap ring that has come loose from the backside of the shaft. Without the model number I can't recommend any specific parts but I would start by disassembling the front end of the drill. The snap ring should be part of the clutch assembly.

I hope this helps with your repair!

Thanks, I took it apart already. Is a snap ring a horseshoe shaped piece of metal with two little holes on the ends? It apparently had come off and was floating aroung inside. I tried to put it back on and cinch it up tight, but there was no room to put the screws back in. I'm sure I could use a specialized tool. The other issue was getting the plastice portion with the numbers for the different speeds exactly back on in the right place. Bearings going places, springs Ahhhh! ...
