DC925 cluthc does'nt slip ???
Not sure why but my dewalt DC925 stopped slipping in any setting. All I have is the drill bit no slip position and hammer drill position. The collar rotates fine and smooth from position 1 through 22 and beyond but the clutch is locked as if in the drill position. Anyone out there have the same experirnce or ideas what may have happened ? Mike

I just experienced the inverse of your problem with my DeWalt DW996, the clutch suddenly became stuck in "slip mode" while I was using it with the collar set to the drill "no slip" setting with a hole saw.
It felt the same in all in of settings on the collar for the clutch, and like your drill the collar also rotated without any problem.
I figured I needed a new transmission so I started to disassemble the drill by removing the chuck. I removed the screw inside of the chuck and placed the short end of a 90 degree allen wrench in the chuck and tightened it so I could whack the longer end with a hammer to loosen the chuck.
Well, the first couple of hits only resulted in the chuck merrily spinning around due to the clutch being stuck in slip. Then with another hit, much to my surprise the clutch became unstuck and engaged, providing enough resistance for the chuck to loosen up and be unscrewed.
I rotated the adjusting collar through all of the numbered setting and all worked fine. I reinstalled and tightened the chuck and reinstalled the screw.
It's been 2 weeks now and the silly thing is still working fine. I have no clue about the how and why of what happened, and it may not apply in your case, but I thought I'd post my experience for whatever it's worth.

Same issue with DW992 type 3
dewalt,
I've got the same issue with a used DW992 drill/driver. This unit has a separate, clutch ring (0-11.5) adjustment and a separate clutch/drill adjustment ring. When the clutch/drill ring is in drill it works fine. When in clutch mode, all I get is either a very high clutch setting, or drill mode. I've taken off the chuck, in an attempt to take the unit apart and put it back on, still the same problem. Under the chuck there's a spring clip I took off but then could get no further. There was a part of the clutch mechanism showing, but I couldn't figure the next dis-assembly step. If you hear from anyone please give me a shout.
Thanks,
