Pressure

I have a Makita MAC2200 air compressor that has been sitting for a while. I went to use it and it will only build about 20 lbs of pressure. I figure it can only be the valve plate, check valve or pressure switch. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I worked at Makita for 16 years. First, check your air filter for clogging (dust), then the valve plate in the head, then make sure your check valve is working properly, and then verify the cylinder head for wear on the piston head.
