    Hi travis,

The guard is held to the blade housing by a single bolt, item #155 on the parts diagram. The bolt goes through the blade housing, the center of the spring, the hole in the guard, and finally the plate. That assembly is then held together with a lock nut. The tricky part is aligning the tension spring. the spring must be tensioned and then has tabs that slip into holes on the blade housing and in the guard itself. It usually takes several attempts to get the spring mounted properly.

    Good luck with your repair!
