engine shuts down

I have a 17.5 H.P. Briggs and Stratton engine on a lawn tractor, after thirty minutes it shuts down. I have changed the magneto. What else would cause this problem?

I had the same problem. Here is what worked for me.

Replaced the fuel solenoid and check the ground wire for it. I also replaced the float and needle valve. However I really think it was the solenoid and/or the ground. Once I got the Carb off, I had easy access to the ground wire bolt/screw and found it to be finger tight.

Anyway, the old mower is up and running like a champ.
