    Hi Pauric,

If the trimmer is hard to start but then runs OK once started I would consider doing a tune up. To do a basic tune up you will need to replace the air filter, the fuel filter and the spark plug. It is a good idea to do a basic tuneup at the beginning of each season.
For your trimmer you will need the following parts...

    Air filter - #98760
    Spark Plug - #870174001
    Fuel filter - #530091878

Ryobi only offers the fuel filter as part of the gas tank assembly. The fuel filter listed is from Poulan. In tank fuel filters are pretty universal and the one from Poulan should work just fine.

If the engine still doesn't start easily and run well after the tune up then it likely has a clogged carburetor. the carburetor will need to be replaced. The carburetor can become plugged with dirt and other debris. If gas is left in the tool for more than a couple of months it will breakdown and turn to a varnish in the carburetor. This will also plug the carburetor. The carburetor is part #308054013.

All of these parts are available from http://ereplacementparts.com.

    Good luck with your repair!
