    Default Armature or Field Bad

I was on a remodeling job at a local motel. I plugged in my 7 1/4 in Skil circular saw and smoked it and it will not run. I thought it was just going bad so I tried my 6 1/2 in Skil circular saw and smoked it also.

It turned out that the motel handy man had just "improved" the receptical I was plugging into. He wired it from a 120/208 electric panel with two of the hot phases instead of one hot and one neutral so I plugged into 208 vac instead of 120 vac.

Any suggestions on what on what to fix?

    Hi Paul,

You will need to open up both saws and and take a look at the motor. The field is almost certainly damaged. The armature will likely need to be taken to a repair shop to be tested. The brushes are probably damaged as well and possibly the switch.

The field is part #2610341381, the armature is part #2610903173, the brushes are part #2610355594, and the switch is part #2610321608.

All of these parts are available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

I hope this helps with your repair!
