dead trimmer
Cutting down long grass and trimmer went dead. Would this be a switch assembly or a total motor burn out. Is there an overload fuse. Thanks Jim T

Hi Jim,
It could be the cord, the switch or the motor. You can test the cord and switch with a multimeter set to test impedance. (ohms) If the cord and switch test out OK then the problem is likely with the motor. You will need to take the motor to a repair shop to be tested.
The cord is part #UT41002A-31, the switch is part #UT41002A-38, and the motor assembly is part #099015003006. All of these parts are available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
Good luck with your repair!

This a reply to my own question. I took trimmer apart carefully. A bunch of small screws and one large one. I then took several digital photos of wiring and locations of items. You can zoom in later if needed. Pay attention to wiring. I then bypassed switch with power wires. The motor ran. Its the switch assembly ! Ordered 2 just in case. Switch assembly is 10.5 Amp. The motor is only 6 AMP. Do not know why it went out. Would not increase amps, if motor burns out $55 , Its cheaper to buy reconditioned unit. Thanks for responding ! Thanks !
