Laser not working

Hello,
The laser on my Skil 3800-02 miter saw stopped working. Is this usually a bad laser or could it be a faulty laser switch?

My Laser stopped working also. And I just started taking it apart and it doesn't seem very easy to replace as the wiring runs all over the saw. And the laser itself won't detach from the wiring! Bad design. Has anyone replaced one of these?
