    Default No power

I have a Ridgid Model TS3650 that has no power. It was working fine and then the motor sounds like it does not go into the run phase of the rotation. It starts up fine but never kicks into the power phase of the cycle.

The motor is a capacitor start motor. It has a rotating switch, a stationary switch, a starting winding and a capacitor in a circuit that gets the motor running. The rotating switch could be stuck on the shaft not allowing it to move axially. The stationary switch has a contact on it that could be welded closed, or the capacitor could be shorted. Look at the capacitor and check to see if it is discolored or smells bad. If nothing is obvious there then start the motor and carefully remove one of the wires connected to the capacitor and see if that solves the problem, that would mean the problem is internal if it goes away. The capacitor is on top of the motor under a hotdog cover, short one. let me know more.
