How to loosen the chuck on my keyless,cordless drill

I inherited this drill recently with no operating instructions. I am an older female, my last drill had both a cord and a chuck-key. I am trying to complete some projects and cannot seem to get a straight answer as to how to accomplish this. Can you please instruct me as to the procedure? I was told to hang on to the chuck while I activate the drill in the "open" position. I almost tore my fingers off. I am a stage 4 cancer patient and cannot do this type of maneuver. Please Help.

Hi Sandy,

You will notice that the rear portion of the chuck is independent from the front section. To open the chuck you hold the rear portion stationary and loosen the front section. This will open the chuck and allow you to change the bit.
