    Default dc988 clutch

I can't get the clutch adjustment ring to go past 22. It won't go to drill or hammer. Is there an easy fix?

Mine does this too. I have found that if you turn the clutch to the lowest setting and then hold it so that it slips, then you can turn it back to drill or hammer.

Chris and or Karl, I had the same problem and thanks to Karl it worked. Still need to look into why this is so. Seems like something is to blame for this. Guess i'll check with the guys at ereplacement

    Hi Guys,
The DC988 had a number of issues with the transmission. The problems were clutch slippage, sticking rotator rings and jumping out of gear.there was never any service bulletin about the problem.Look at the bottom of the drill where the battery goes in and look for a date code.It will start with a 20xx xx-xx. The first 4 digits is the year the tool was made the second will be the week and i think the last where it was made. The transmissions have a three year warranty so if your tool fall within the three years you can get a replacement transmission under warranty. Hope this helps.Good luck.
