electrical brake

I saw smoke coming out of the brushes and now the brake doesn't stop the saw like before. I checked the brushes and they look fine it just smoked for a second. Where is the brake assembly and are there replacement parts? Thanks.

The brake is incorporated in the switch. It basically shorts the motor out to cause the magnetic field it produces to act as a brake. There really are no brake parts other than the switch itself. You might try replacing the switch to resolve a brake issue.
