Pull Cord

When I attempt to pull the cord to start my mower, the cord comes out about about 6 inches and stops. If I pull hard enough, it lifts the front of the mower up! Whats wrong with it? Is it an easy fix?

Hi Casey,

The first thing to do is remove the starter from the engine and see if it operates normally when it isn't connected to the engine. If it does then you likely have a major engine problem. The problem you described can be an indicator of and engine that has been seized. If that is the case the engine would most likely need to be replaced.
