I have the dc011 and the volume on it is not as loud as it used to be. I work with metal studs, do you think when they are cut with a saw the metal chips built up enough on the magnets of the speakers to affect the performance of them?

If you read my question further down, I had intermittent sound on different bands; the fix I did was to use a can of degreaser on the internal boards, especially near the tuner, then allow it to dry before plugging into the mains. It brought it back to life.

There was plenty of dirt that came out. I would suggest spraying near volume control knob.

I had mine running on just the battery whilst spraying to check for improvement, but allowed it to dry overnight before using the mains supply. I hope this helps; any feed back would be great.
