    Default DW988 "Ratcheting"

    I have a mdel DW988, I replaced the front gear box and it still "ratchets" like it is set on #1, spped does not seem to matter, it does it on all 3 speeds...Any ideas ?

    Default transmission

    Hey caseys,
    usually it is the transmission that is bad [slipping] and not the gearbox..[it may seem like the gearbox..!] sorry but you will have to change out the transmission to repair you problem..

    Chuck, I replaced the transmission, ( inexpensive part ) and the drill now works fine at all levels
