    Default Spring on brush holder

Hello. I have a makita LS1013 miter saw that has stopped working. I took it a part and saw that there was a little copper colored spring on the brush holder inside the motor housing that was broke or burnt off and not making a connection. What is this part and can I replace it with another or do I have to order a complete motor housing of field assy? I was using the saw when sparks came from the saw blade and this is what I found.

    Hello Duane,

Makita does not supply the brush holder spring as a service part. You can however order the part number 803104 to replace the damaged one you have. That will be a cheap fix if that is the problem. Hopefully a bad armature or field didn't cause it to burn.

    Hope this helps,
    WJA
