    Default BT3000 shims

After replacing the motor bracket, because of a stripped thread, and replacing the belts, I reassembled but discovered that I cannot raise or lower the motor. How do I tell if the shims need to be replaced or could it be some other problem?

Gordon, did you get an answer on why the motor can't be raised?

If not perhaps this is the answer:

When you reattached the guide holder to the bracket, you may have replaced the setscrews riding against the shims, and made them too tight. Loosen the setscrews just a bit, and see if that doesn't free up your motor slide. There are 4 of them. But CAUTION:

I have not made that adjustment myself, so you might want to check with a real repairman to find out how tight they really need to be set!

You may have an answer to my problem.

I am attempting to replace the drive belts. I have disassembled the mechanism down to the attachment of the guide holder to the bracket. I have removed four screws and four setscrews from the corners of guide holder, and two pan screws from each side of the bearing. It seems like I should now be able to separate the guide holder from the bracket, but the two are still firmly attached.

    What do I do next?
