    When I put the battery in the charger, it cuts right off

    when i put battery in charger trips reset almost imediatley. will finaly hold after severall..... attemps.

    It could be a bad battery. A local repair shop should be able to test that for you. If the battery is good then the charger has probably gone bad. I would suggest replacing the charger with on of Makita's newer models such as the DC1804.
