my 505 drill will only start if I pull trigger then turn it by hand. is this because of bad brushes?

    Hi Harvey,

The condition you described can be a brush issue. Sometimes the brush will stuck in the holder and a turn of the armature will jar it enough so it makes contact. You could try removing the brushes and cleaning the holders. Replace the brushes if they are worn. They are part #176949-17. This problem can also be caused by a bad armature. When most of the pads on the commutator are bad the motor won't start until the armature is rotated to a good pad.

    I hope this helps!
