Just replaced the brushes in the DC925 drill, brushes were definitely gone. when I powered up the drill there was sparks from the brush area and smoke. Any ideas?

Sparks and smoke are usually a sign of a damaged armature. You will want to remove the armature and inspect it for signs of heat damage. Also, it is not uncommon for the field to also be damaged when you see sparks from the armature so be sure to inspect it as well.

    Good luck!

The same here, lots of sparks and smoke from brushes, less power. Should I change brushes or the motor?
    Thank you,
