Default Ridgid TS2400-1 Table Saw Motor issue

My Ridgid TS2400-1 Table saw motor started running about half speed and has a burnt wiring smell. Also when running, it makes a surging sound. I may have been attempting to run wood through too fast and over worked the motor. Is this problem common? Can the motor be fixed? How?

    Hello,

The first part you might want to look at is the circuit assembly. It will help the motor maintain speed and torque under load. The odor may be the circuit assembly overheating and burning. The motor may well be the problem though. Inspect the motor, if you can see the windings inside and they are black and burnt on either the armature or field and it has a strong burnt smell, you will have to replace the complete motor assembly. The manufacture does not supply internal motor parts, therefore the complete motor will have to be replaced.

    Hope this helps,
    WJA
