    Default Makita 9227c dead?

I have a Makita 9227c sander/polisher that has lived a long life of wet and dry concrete polishing that recently seems to have kicked the bucket. When I try to use it, it just whines/hums and doesn't move. Any thoughts on what might be the issue?

My first guess would be a bad armature. If there is some arcing and smoke or smell associated with the noise then I would be certain of it. If it is the armature you will want to disassemble the tool and inspect for additional damage to the field, housings and brush holders. These other parts are often damaged by the armature when it fails. I know how hard concrete work is on tools. My suggestion if the armature failed is to replace the tool.

    I hope this helps!
